- FT727-R RESET OPTIONS
- =====================
-
- I have received a small addendum to the official German manual which lists
- frequency ranges on VHF and UHF which may be programmed into the rig:
-
- VHF range shift step UHF range shift step code
- ------------------------------------------------------
- 100-200 0 5/10 400-500 0 12.5/25 001111
- 144-146 0 10/20 430-440 5.0 10/20 002222
- ......................................................
- 144-146 0 10/20 430-440 5.0 10/20 003333
- 144-154 RX only 10/20
- ......................................................
- 144-148 0.6 12.5/25 430-440 7.6 12.5/25 005555
- 144-148 0.6 5/10 440-450 5.0 12.5/25 007777
- 144-146 0.6 12.5/25 430-440 1.6 12.5/25 009999
-
- codes 000000, 004444, 006666, and 008888 cause an ERR to be displayed.
-
- The ranges 100-200 and 400-500 MHz (code 001111) cannot be used to their full
- extent, even though the frequencies are displayed. The published technical
- data, however, indicates functions are maintained in an approximate range of
- 142-154 and 420-460 MHz.
-
- Combinations with no repeater shift specified, or with the wrong shift, may
- be reprogrammed with the usual function F(unc) + SHIFT.
-
- I thought everybody got this leaflet! If not, enjoy. If you have more to say
- about the rig, you are welcome to append.

- ==============================================
-
- 1) Remove the battery pack.
- 2) Locate the RAM backup switch according to your manual (this will be the
- switch furthest away from the battery terminals).
- 3) Turn the switch off, count to 4, turn the switch back on.
- 4) Replace the battery pack.
- 5) Turn the set on, the readout should be entirely blank. If it is not, you
- probably did not wait long enough before turning the switch back on, so
- repeat the above procedure.
- 6) Type in the following: 010000
- 7) The set should now come to life, you will have to reprogram all the
- memories as well as the repeater splits for both bands.
- The display will cover 100 - 199 and 400 - 499 MHz, but will only work
- over 139 - 160 and 420 - 460 MHz.
-
- To reset the set, repeat the procedure replacing 010000 by 433600.
-
- Headset Mods for use without vox.
- ---------------------------------
- This is a very simple external mod.
- Take a double pole switch (RS components part 317-651) and solder a 1k
- resistor across the 2 poles, connect one side of the switch to some
- screened cable with a 2.5mm jack socket on the end. Connect the other side of
- the switch to some screened cable with a 2.5mm jack plug on the end. A good
- way of mounting the switch is in the top of a 35mm film canister using the
- canister to protect the wiring. Now with the VOX switched off, the switch
- acts as a locking PTT switch. You will have to make an extension for the RX
- audio to the earpiece as well, this is just a 3.5mm jackplug to 3.5mm jack
- socket.
